911 Carrera (Type 996)

An introduction to this Porsche 911 (Type 996) for sale.

The 996 was the first water-cooled 911 and remains hugely popular today. Easier to live with than the air-cooled cars, it still delivers the rear-engined driving feel that only a 911 has.

Ahead of the sale we carried out servicing and replaced consumables throughout. The battery, spark plugs, ignition coils, air filter, fan belt and water pump have all been replaced with new parts. We also addressed internal engine wear parts such as the cam-chain slider, and renewed the engine oil and other fluids.

During the work we inspected the cylinder bores and confirmed there is no notable scoring on the cylinder walls. The air-conditioning has also been cleaned so you can drive in comfort.

In addition, we checked for oil and coolant leaks, ran a diagnostic scan, and verified starting, idling, throttle response and behaviour on a test drive. Servicing focused on the cooling system, ignition and internal engine wear parts that tend to need attention on the 996, so the car is finished to be enjoyed with peace of mind.

There is wear consistent with the age, but with the mechanicals thoroughly sorted it is an easy car to recommend even as a first Porsche 911.

The 996 has been re-evaluated on price in recent years and is drawing attention as an attainable water-cooled 911. From daily use to weekend drives, it is a car we would love anyone wanting genuine Porsche driving to come and see.
